Myrtle Beach Mutiny winger Max “The Mooch” Weston has been selected as the National Premier Soccer League Player of the Week for the week ending June 24.
Weston had a goal and the game-winning assist as the Mutiny handed the Atlanta Silverbacks Reserves their first loss of the season, 2-1 on Saturday. In the 47th minute, Weston staked Myrtle Beach to a 1-0 lead, bringing the ball down the left side through the Atlanta defense then cutting in toward goal before unleashing a rocket shot that glanced off the post and into the far corner of the net from the top corner of the penalty area. In the 76th minute, Weston brought the ball down the opposite side, then dished off to Robert Nosa, who put away the game-winner. Weston also turned in a strong performance on defense, helping shut down the Silverbacks for most of the match.
