The National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) will open the 2011 season with the addition of 10 new teams. Amongst the new additions will be the only Massachusetts based team to be represented in the NPSL, Mass United FC. The NPSL will open the 2011 season with 36 teams. The NPSL is divided into six (6) regional conferences spread out across the United States. All teams will play a minimum of 10 regular season games. Mass United FC will play in the Northeast – Atlantic Conference.
In its inaugural season, Mass United FC will play all of its home games at the newly constructed Manning Field in the City of Lynn. The enthusiasm of Mass United FC’s upcoming season with the NPSL was highlighted by Jonathan Beck, General Manager of Mass United FC “Coming into our first national AGM, it was very refreshing to find that a good majority of the teams in the league were in a similar situation to us,” said the GM. “They had the same goals for their clubs as we do ours. I am looking forward to continued collaboration with our league partners down the road.”
The club owner and head coach Jim Antonakas, who was recently named Coach of the Year by the United States Adult Soccer Association, was quoted as saying about the NPSL, “I am very excited about this new opportunity to bring the highest level of adult soccer to the New England area. Our goal is to showcase New England’s elite players on a national scale”.
